You should keep a pet first aid kit on hand at home and in your car in case of emergencies. Your kit should contain your pets name, age, breed, sex, identification and any health issues. A copy of your pet vaccination records is also great information to have included in your kit.

The following supplies should be included in your kit:

  • Sterile gauze pads
  • Rolled gauze
  • Medical tape
  • Bandages [different sizes]
  • Strips of cloth [to help with bleeding injuries]
  • Tensor bandages
  • Anti-bacterial towelettes
  • Hot/cold pack
  • Hydrogen peroxide 3% USP
  • Antibiotic ointment
  • Saline solution
  • Styptic powder
  • Muzzle
  • Good Quality Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Rubber gloves
  • Rectal thermometer
  • Flashlight
  • Blanket

The above contents should be checked often and replaced as soon as they are used.
